Minima glasses

Minima frames are the lightest frames in the world. The manufacturer is MINIMA SAS, 4, Avenue Louis Delage 91310 LINAS - FRANCE

The French eyewear company Minima, known for its lightweight rimless frames for adults and innovative, hingeless, almost unbreakable colorful frames for young children, was founded in 1994 by Maurice Timon. More than thirty years later, the Minima brand is present in more than 80 countries and has more than 4,000 points of sale in France. The collections have not stopped growing and adapting over the years, as fashion has evolved and glasses have been complemented by accessories. Minima has followed these market evolutions while maintaining its philosophy and identity: to provide high-quality, contemporary products, fully adapted to the needs and well-being of eyewear wearers. The company's motto is defined by the founder of the company, Maurice Thimon: "The driving force behind the design of our collections: to make you feel great in our glasses"

At Minima, we care about variety and strive for perfection. Pushing the boundaries of the imaginary is one of our missions. Minima designs glasses that are comfortable at all levels for those who wear them. All our collections demonstrate this constant need for innovation and technical competence, Minima glasses are as light as they are high-quality, as reliable as they are durable. They all have the signature Minima style: sleek and smart, quite elegant.

"The mission to keep it simple" would be a great motto for Minima, an expert in high-quality glasses for over 30 years. The sleek and elegant design of the Minima eyewear collections hides technical mastery, the result of exceptional experience in eyewear production. It is in its plant in Linas, in Essonne, Ile-de-France, that the company invents, thinks outside the box and introduces many new concepts in the field of eyewear: five patent applications to prove it. Minima has been repeatedly awarded by eye care/eyewear professionals for its high-tech, high-quality collections and is recognized throughout the world.

The frames for children are developed in collaboration with eye care specialists and therefore offer the guarantee of impeccable technical quality that meets the morphological needs of children from 0 to 8 years old. It is a technical achievement combined with an aesthetic and innovative design that makes it easier for children to want to wear glasses. Enough features to please young users, reassure their parents and satisfy eye care professionals.

Mimima makes its frames as minimalist as possible, equipping them with as much technology as possible so that they are beautiful, discreet, functional and pleasant to wear.

Minima glasses need to be lightweight, flexible and durable, Timon said, but also affordable, especially when it comes to kids’ frames since they’re still growing. The key to Minima’s innovative kids’ ranges is their hingeless technology, which uses a Lego-like system to attach flexible rubber temples to the front of the frame, allowing them to bend more than 90⁰ without breaking. The ranges can also be produced in small quantities since everything is made in Minima’s factory in France, said Sophie Potteher, Minima’s Asia Pacific frame sales manager, adding that the colorful interchangeable temples come in two sizes to ensure a good fit. Kids’ frames are very technical, however, Timon said, so it’s important for optometrists and retailers to be trained in measuring children’s faces and fitting them correctly. The company’s latest innovation for kids is the 3D Junior Hybrid range, which features the latest 3D printing technology to allow for a range of vibrant colours, frames specifically designed for young Asian children and “incredible” detailing on the temples, including flowers that appeal to little girls. Launched at Mido earlier this year, the range has been nominated for the 2024 Silmo d’Or award. “The idea that a pair of glasses can be simple, attractive, functional and accessible to as many people as possible means we can focus on what matters most: making your vision easier and more beautiful,” says Timon in the book’s foreword.
